Wessex Gallery
Permanent exhibition graphic design

The new Wessex Gallery opened in July 2014. It tells the story of human settlement in Wessex from prehistory up to Medieval times. Our graphic design is integral to the exhibition designed by Metaphor, revealing the region’s stratification of archaeology.

The narrative runs from the very earliest times, through the complex, unfolding story of Stonehenge, up until the establishment of the Norman stronghold of Old Sarum. The gallery tells a double story: that of the C18th antiquarians who uncovered the region’s prehistory, and the story of the original inhabitants of Wessex, who lived and died here many thousands of years ago. This HLF-funded project sets a benchmark for both design and content.
