Eleven museums and galleries are nominated to win the 2010 Art Fund Prize, the UK’s largest single arts prize of £100,000. Traditionally the long list comprises ten, but this year eleven institutions are in the running, attesting to the high quality of applications.

Three of the eleven – the Ashmolean Museum, the Natural History Museum’s Darwin Centre, and Hampton Court Palace’s Henry VIII: heads and hearts – have graphic design schemes by Lucy or Robert.

Music for the New Year

We thought we’d dispel the winter fug with a song: The Octopus Gardening Song, by Hilary Koob-Sassen. The music was, I believe, provoked by a tendril of our Blue Ballet squash, escaping the neat boundary of the plot. Hadspen garden has inspired music in the past and we’re tickled that it continues to do so. Click the link below to listen.

The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford has just opened its 39 new galleries to the public. Although not about gardening, it is a project we have been working on since 2006. See more in the Ashmolean project page on the right, and forgive this non green-fingered interjection.
